What We Believe

Our Core Beliefs

  • What we share with other Christians:

    • We believe in the Triune God – Father, Son, and Holy Spirit
    • A faith in the mystery of salvation in and through Jesus Christ
    • We believe that God’s redemptive love is realized in human life by the work of the Spirit, both in our personal experiences and in the community of believers
    • We recognize that the reign of God is both a present and future reality
    • We recognize the authority of Scripture, both in matters of faith and in practice
    • We celebrate the Sacrament of Baptism in persons of all ages and celebrate an open table at Holy Communion
  • What our distinctive Methodist beliefs are:

    • Grace is central to our understanding of the Christian faith and life
    • We understand that faith and good works belong together as those good words are an expression of our faith
    • Because of what God has done for us in Christ, we offer our lives back to God for a life of service

Vision Statement

“We will be the reflection of Jesus Christ without barriers.”
  • “So all  of us who have had that veil removed can see and reflect the glory of the Lord.  And the Lord – who is the Spirit – makes us more and more like him as we are changed into his glorious image.”  2 Corinthians 3:18 (NLT)

Mission Statement

“As we serve, witness and worship, we will be the reflection of Jesus Christ without barriers.”
  • Serve

“Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others, faithfully administering God’s grace in its various forms.  If anyone speaks, he should do it as one speaking the very words of God.  If anyone serves, he should do it with the strength God provides, so that in all things God may be praised through Jesus Christ.  To him be the power and glory forever and ever.  Amen.”  1 Peter 4:10-11 (NIV)

  • Witness

And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.  Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything that I have commanded you.  And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”  Matthew 28:18-21 (NSRV)

  • Worship

“Shout for joy to the Lord, all the earth.  Worship the Lord with gladness; come before him with joyful songs.  Know that the Lord is God.  It is he who made us, and we are his; we are his people, the sheep of his pasture.  Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name.  For the Lord is good and his love endures forever; his faithfulness continues through all generations.”  Psalm 100 (NIV)
