Coldspring Methodist Church

Our Staff

Reverend David DeWitt, Senior Pastor

On June 3, 2023, the Coldspring Methodist Church unanimously voted to welcome Reverend David DeWitt as our Senior Pastor.

Prior to this appointment, Pastor David was a retired Local Pastor from Western North Carolina where, over time, he served five churches in the Appalachian Mountains.   He earned a Master’s in Theology Studies (MTS) from Iliff University and has completed his Doctoral of Ministry studies at Anderson University, Anderson, SC.  He is currently completing a doctoral dissertation that focuses on 21st-century ministry and small congregation development. He is passionate about fulfilling the mission that Christ set before all his disciples – to “Go and make disciples of all nations.”

Reverend DeWitt’s journey into ministry was formed during the many years he spent after leaving Christianity.  During this time away he studied Hinduism, Buddhism, Vedanta, Native American spiritualism, Taoism, Judaism, Theosophy, New Ageism, and many other non-Christian dogmas.  After literally traveling all over the world in search of spiritual meaning – he rediscovered Christ in a small rural Methodist Church in the mountains of Western North Carolina.  His sermons are filled with stories of his journey home.

Prior to his calling, Pastor David worked for many decades, as a director in a software company, and he continues to support NASA in planning future space missions. He still has software he wrote flying on satellites in space and in commercial and military aircraft. Pastor David is a disabled veteran who served twelve years in the US Marine Corps where was fortunate to explore the numerous religions of the world.

Reverend DeWitt is married to Rebecca (Becky) and between them, they have four children and three grandchildren (so far).

Andrew Main, Choir Director

Andrew hails from Portland, ME where he grew up surrounded by music.  His parents were both actively involved in community theatre and their church choir,  and his grandmother was the organist and choir director at their church.  Andrew majored in Voice Performance and Music Education at Ithaca College in New York State, where he met Lauretta, now his wife.  He moved to the Houston area in 2012 to pursue a Masters degree in Choral Conducting and to be closer to Lauretta.  He graduated from Sam Houston State University in 2015 and is now Assistant Choir Director at Bleyl Middle School in Cy-Fair ISD and part-time Choir Director at Coldspring UMC.

When he is not at church, Andrew enjoys spending time with Lauretta and their dog, Moose, watching classic movies and trying out new recipes.  Andrew enjoys the powerful, spiritual nature of music.  It is something that, like God, touches every living thing.  Using this wonderful gift to help people come closer to God is something that brings him great joy.  The best way to contact Andrew is via email at andrew.j.main@gmail.com
